P-Square Reveal Football Was Their First Love, Way Before Music

For the first time in almost a decade, P-square’s Paul and Peter gave media interviews. In conversation, the two talked about their love of football and their long-awaited first album.
The Grammy-winning Nigerian music group revealed this to CNN’s Larry Madwo, explaining why they gave up on their dream of becoming a professional soccer player.
Growing up in Jos, Plateau, the twins hoped to play football professionally. At Pepsi Academy, Peter also played with Mikel Obi.
Due to his advanced age, Paul decided to give up his dream of becoming a goalkeeper. ‘We played football,’ said Paul, ‘and Peter teamed up with Mikel’ [Obi] at the Pepsi Academy. I used to be a keeper, but I felt old and gave up.
Ultimately Nigeria won the soccer championship. I think it was 1996 Atlanta. Encouraged by the financial incentives offered to football players by the then president, their love of football was reignited when Nigeria won the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

But Peter believes entertainment and music can take him to a better place in the world, and it’s time to stop staying local. “But remember, at the same time I was in a situation where I was playing at Pepsi Academy. If you think Entertainment takes me to the world. ”

I asked the P-Square twins why they broke up. “We are human,” they say.
