The Top 10 Celebrities Who Rocked The Red Carpet’s Best Outfits At The 2023 Met Gala
This year’s theme, ‘In Honor of Karl’, pays tribute to the life and career of Karl Lagerfeld, a formidable and often controversial designer who transformed some of fashion’s most illustrious Maisons. It contrasts with last year’s theme, which leaned toward Gilded Age opulence. When Lagerfeld died in 2019 at the age of 85, he was still in charge of Chanel and Fendi, where he led design for more than 50 years, as well as his own eponymous label. It was the same.
During his decades as creative director, Lagerfeld became identified with Chanel.

The first Monday in May 2023 was Met Gala Day. At an event honoring the late great Karl Lagerfeld, celebrities paid tribute to the designer in a variety of ways. Some wore pieces inspired by his aesthetic as he reinterpreted some of his classic works.
The red carpet was dominated by monochrome outfits, dominated by black and white. We also saw numerous references to camellias, lots of pearls, hints of tweed, and hundreds to thousands of crystal embellishments.
1. Naomi Campbell in vintage Chanel
The evening needed a little vintage Chanel, and Naomi Campbell, along with many other ’90s supermodels, gave Karl Lagerfeld a wink by going out wearing one of his designs. From the Spring/Summer 2010 Couture line, I chose a sophisticated and exquisite pink satin dress with embellished accents.

One of the night’s best outfits was by Anok Yai and Prabal Gurung who played with tulle, crystals and the most beautiful silhouettes. She paired the little dress with edgy sunglasses and silky opera her elbow-length gloves.

I also had the opportunity to witness how various designers have interpreted Karl Lagerfeld’s work, and I especially liked Vera Wang’s interpretation. She wore a dress with the word “Karl” embroidered on her white bodice and flowing black skirt.
6. Nicole Kidman in vintage Chanel
The Met Gala isn’t just about looking great. It’s also about using your ensemble to tell a story, and Nicole Kidman may have had the best of the night.
The actress wore the same Chanel couture dress that debuted in 2004 in the famous Baz Luhrmann-directed Chanel No. 5 fragrance commercial.

There were many monochrome outfits on the Met Gala red carpet, but one of our favorites was actress Camila Morrone’s stunning Rodarte dress. The dress had dramatic train and cloak elements and was composed of white lace and black velvet.

It’s always nice to see fashion houses honoring each other. This topic gave many examples. A perfect mashup of Versace and Chanel, the outfit worn by Anne Hathaway was one of our favorite interpretations of this.
