A weekend at the Tankwa River Lodge Drizzle and Dip

Some time ago, a friend and I spent a weekend away at Tankuwa River Lodge. Perfect Hideaway Property at Tank Wakalu. This is the place to step off the grid and experience big skies and vast expanses of space. The expansive landscape evokes a feeling of tranquility and I was happy to stay for his third night to savor that.
Filled with beautiful collectibles, every aspect of this welcoming 300-year-old home worked seamlessly. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower and fire pit on the stairs. A glass of red wine, with the flames blazing and the Milky Way twinkling above us, we don’t need anything else.
We were a food-obsessed group, so each meal was carefully considered and cooked in turns. bottom.
One of the highlights of our stay was the nature drive through a rugged landscape filled with succulents. This gave us a glimpse of the incredible natural beauty that Tankwa has to offer. We swam in the Tankwa River that runs through the property, and the lodge has a nice plunge pool to cool off.
The area of Tankwa and Tankwa National Park, about a four-hour drive from Cape Town, is one of South Africa’s driest regions. Summer temperatures often exceed 40 degrees Celsius, so the area’s name ‘Tankwa’, which means ‘dry land’ in Khoisan, is perfectly apt. Luckily it was early summer when we visited so the temperature was very manageable.
