Corn Pudding – This creamy, buttery-sweet, custard-flavoured side dish is perfect for special occasions or weekday family meals. This recipe only requires a few pantry staples and no mixer. Just throw, mix and bake!

This barely sweet side dish is pretty, custardy and creamy, so it’s one of my favorites to pair with decadent holiday meals, but it’s not the only one I’ll find on my table. This corn pudding is the first thing I make in summer.

Corn Pudding: A Southern Delicacy

If you are unfamiliar with this dish, you may be wondering what corn pudding is. This Southern classic is essentially a rich custard dish featuring sweet corn and cornmeal. Rich and slightly sweet (thanks to the corn🌽), it has a beautiful pudding-like texture. Trust me, one bite and you’ll be hooked.

  • bake Uncovered for 45 to 55 minutes or until set, golden brown on top.

Is corn pudding supposed to be watery?

The corn pudding is fairly moist but not runny. If so, you may be overcooking it. It’s done when the edges are slightly browned. Only the center is wavy. You can also insert a toothpick into the pudding to test its doneness. When it’s clean, the corn pudding is complete.

Why is my corn pudding dry and crumbly?

There are two possibilities. First, the liquid component readings may be off. Baking usually requires precise measurements, so stick to the recipe. A second possibility is that it was overcooked. For a perfectly baked and moist corn pudding, remember the tip I mentioned in the last question.
