Tributes Pour in for Deceased South African Broadcaster Mark Pilgrim

Famous South African broadcaster Mark Pilgrim died Sunday after a long battle with cancer.
Hot 102.7, the radio station he recently worked for, confirmed his passing. His death triggered a deluge of moving obituaries on his social media.
In March 2022, Pilgrim was diagnosed with lung cancer. The radio host launched his series of YouTube videos after receiving his diagnosis to document his healing process.
He was previously a presenter on the game show Power of 10 and the reality TV series Big Brother South Africa and Big Brother Africa. In 1988, a father of two survived testicular cancer.
After getting his feet on campus radio in the late 1980s, Pilgrim began his professional radio career in the mid-1990s on 5FM, and the next decade would see him broadcast simultaneously on 94.5 KFM and 94.7 Highveld Stereo across the Cape. I spent 10 years at this station before. in Johannesburg.

In 2014, Pilgrim joined emerging community station Hot 91.9FM and won two SA Radio Awards while working on the station. Pilgrim was handed the morning slot when a new commercial station opened in Johannesburg in the form of Hot 102.7FM in July 2021.
In 2021, Pilgrim was inducted into the SA Radio Awards Hall of Fame, but he also made a name for himself on television, hosting a number of primetime shows, including South Africa’s first ever ‘Big Brother’.
He is also a popular voice actor, published author, MC, corporate DJ, motivational speaker, and holds a BCom degree in Industrial Psychology and an MBA. Edinburgh Business School.
