Eggs are one of the staples of the keto diet. If you’re looking for a way to make regular eggs a little more exciting, try this recipe.
The truth is, mayonnaise is the perfect seasoning for those on a keto diet.
But make sure your mayonnaise is sugar free. Choose unsweetened mayonnaise brands that use avocado, olive, or coconut oil in their products.
Do not skip the step with ice cold water. Shocking an egg with such water causes it to contract just enough to separate the egg white from the shell. This allows the liquid to penetrate underneath the membrane and help free the shell. A very fresh egg will not peel off easily. So you may want to buy your eggs ahead of time and let them rest in the refrigerator for a few days.
In the 18th century, the Oxford English Dictionary used the word “deviled” to describe a seasoned dish that is boiled or fried. Deviled eggs contain pepper and mustard, both of which make the eggs quite spicy. And the name stuck.
