Rocky Dawuni Loses Grammy Award For The Third Time

After two unsuccessful Grammy attempts in 2015 and 2021, Ghana’s Rocky Downey was expected to win Ghana’s first Grammy this year.

But after Rocky Downey’s loss at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles yesterday, February 5, at the Crypto.com Arena, Ghana appears to have to dash its hopes for better news in the future.

Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode’s “Bayethe” beat out competitors like Arooj Aftab’s “Udhero Na,” Matt B and Eddy Kenzo’s Anoushka Shankar’s “Gimme Love,” and Burna Boy’s “Last Last.” won the Best Global Performance Award.

The song Rocky Dawuni was nominated for was “Neva Bow Down” featuring Blvk H3ro. Released September 22, 2022.

Last year, Rocky Downey’s ‘Voice of Bunbon Vol. 1’ album was also nominated in the Best Global Music Album category.

Apart from gaining international recognition for his music, Rocky Downey is also known for songs such as In Ghana’, ‘Jammin Nation’, ‘Jerusalem’ and ‘Akwaaba’. He is a regional United Nations Goodwill Ambassador.
