I have many bean recipes.they went to me Food that makes you feel relieved List because my aunt taught me how to make butter beans. So whenever a craving strikes, I throw together this recipe.

They are creamy, soft legumes It has a mild flavor and a color and texture similar to butter (hence the name butter beans in the South and the UK).And of course, like most beans, they are excellent meatless protein.

How to make butter beans

Soak, saute, simmer
  • soak the beans – Place the butter beans in a large bowl and rinse with cold water to remove any splinters or broken beans. Fill a bowl with 4 cups of cold water and let it sit overnight or for 8-12 hours. After soaking, drain the beans, rinse in cold water and set aside. (photo1)

  • serve – Season with salt and pepper if desired, mix lightly and remove from heat. Sprinkle with finely chopped parsley and serve.

  1. bean swap – If you don’t have lima beans, you can substitute broad beans, cannellini, or white beans. Mayokoba beans are hard to come by, but delicious if you can. They are also from Peru and can sometimes be found at Walmart.
  2. bacon swap – If you don’t have bacon, ham or ham hocks will work.
  3. spice up –Add chili flakes or increase the heat with serrano, scotch bonnet, or jalapeño.
