Fashion Icon: Dame Vivienne Westwood Passed Away at The Age of 81.

Fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood died today at the age of 81. According to a statement released on the designer’s Twitter account, the designer died in Clapham, South London, surrounded by her family.

In a statement posted at 9:04 p.m. this evening, [29 December] “Vivienne Westwood passed away peacefully today, surrounded by her family in Clapham, South London, 29th December 2022. The world needs people like Vivienne to make a difference for the better.”

Vivienne Westwood rose to fame in the 1970s, bringing punk into the mainstream and opening the shop Let It Rock with then-partner Malcolm McLaren.

Over the years, her designs have been worn by celebrities such as Dita Von Teese, Sarah Jessica Parker and Princess Eugenie.

Westwood was also known as an activist, often drawing attention to causes such as climate change.

In 2006, she was named Woman of Honor for her contributions to fashion.

Vivian’s husband and creative partner Andreas Kronthaler said:

“We worked until the end and she gave me a lot to do.”

Tributes have also come from celebrities and politicians, including Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. My thoughts are with her family and friends. ”

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 1 winner Vivian tweeted: Never again, we will continue your fight. ”

Television host Jonathan Ross also tweeted condolences, writing, “Rest in peace the great Vivienne Westwood. Unique. Amazing. Uncompromising. Thank you Viviex.”
