Actress Nikki Samonas’ Message To Authorities Over Cedi Appreciation

Ghanaian actress Nicky Samonas has accused authorities of taking Ghanaians on a roller coaster weeks after Cedi fell.

Nikki’s comments are a response to the unprecedented surprise of the Ghanaian cedi, which fell roughly against the US dollar a few weeks ago, selling as high as 15 cents to US$1.

However, as of December 19, 2022, the local currency has struggled with the US dollar, currently selling at 8 cents.

In response to this development, Nicky Samonas has joined the list of individuals who appear to be suffering from the Cedi’s rapid rise against the dollar.

Nikki said it was a sad moment for her, adding that it affected her business dealings.

Speaking to Ghanaweb, the actress lamented the inconsistent performance of the local currency, adding that the authorities responsible for regulating it are taking Ghanaians on a rollercoaster.

“I want them to stop what they’re doing. It’s like we’re on a roller coaster. One moment hey, the next umm. I don’t know what’s going on. We don’t know what’s going on.” If not, at least we need to be informed in advance, like the way the national budget for 2023 is given, the dollar is important to us. It hurts, we are all affected,” she said.

Meanwhile, many Ghanaian celebrities including Kwame A Plus, Lydia Forson, Prince David Osei and others have taken to social media to register their satisfaction with the increased value of cedi.
