Thapelo Molomo Wins Idols SA Season 18

Pretoria-born singer Tapero Moromo became the winner of Idol SA Season 18, becoming an instant millionaire and signing a record label deal with Karawa Jazzmy.
The 29-year-old singer slugged out Sunday night at Pretoria’s Hartfeld Arena alongside KwaZulu-Natal’s Nozi Sibiya.
For a spectacular evening, Judge JR shared the stage with AKA to perform some of his hits, while Judge Tenbishite’s Boom Shaka took the audience back in time with his old hits.

The singer has been crowned king of ballads through his performances of Luther Vandross’ “So Amazing” and Boyz II Men’s “End of the Road.” Moromo worked as a psychologist at her SAPS wellness department in Pretoria.
“Being on Idol has been enlightening. It has built me as a musician and as a believer in God. I’ve seen it, and I’m proud that all my hard work has paid off,” says Moromo with glee.
“Getting an idol means a lot to me because I’ve always had a passion for singing and seeing people realize what the world means to me.”
This season, Somizi Mhlongo hit the Idols stage performing Lil Nas X’s hit Industry Baby with ProVerb to great success.
