What is nutmeg?
A popular spice often used in desserts, delicious food and drinks. Who knew that seeds from a tree called Myristica Fragrans could be very tasty?
Seeds are sun-dried for about 6-8 weeks. During this time, the seed and its hard coating separate. The dried seeds are then sold as nutmeg in whole or in powder form. However, the hard coating is called mace.
How is the taste of nutmeg?
Due to its extraordinary aroma and nutty, sweet and woody notes, I usually associate it with autumn flavors. It gives a warm and cozy atmosphere, sweet and tasty, in any dish.
However, it works a bit, and too much of this intensely flavored spice can ruin the dish, resulting in bitterness and soap. It can also be overwhelming for those with sensitive taste buds. So it’s a good idea to start with a small amount and work from there.
Health benefits of nutmeg
This spice is said to provide health benefits in addition to adding great flavor to both sweet and tasty dishes.
- Beautiful skin – May contain antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that help prevent cell damage and improve skin tone. You can find it by adding a small nutmeg to the face scrub.
- Painkiller – Nutmeg appears to be rich in anti-inflammatory compounds that reduce chronic inflammation, diabetes, arthritis and heart disease. Essential oils are my friends. ❤️

- Better digestion – OK, I’m not interested in flashy words, but I love the sound of the driving force. It’s a technical way to say that this spice is really good in your tummy. You don’t have to convince me that nutmeg is great.

It’s what I usually have, as the taste is generally better than the already ground nutmeg, as it’s not difficult to grind the whole spice.
