I was in Kibera on Wednesday night at 10:30 pm.
Standing in the middle of an empty street, I’m afraid of my life when my Uber will get there.
I know what happened, but I got a new tailor. Skilled youth. He is 24 years old.
I love this new kid.
He is very talented.
For him, the art of tailoring to make a beautiful jacket is something he absolutely loves. He doesn’t do it for money in itself (although I pay him pretty well)
No. For him, and to some extent for me, it’s about the art of assembling high-quality raw materials and bringing beautiful things to life.
Anyway, here I’m in the middle of the street.
As I said, he is 24 years old.
And he is a tailor.
Therefore, time management and discipline are not his strengths. Delays are almost always his guarantee, as he is.
So I had to sit with him to make sure it was completed on time. On top of that, the common passion we have for crafting meant that time expanded without my knowledge. It took time to jointly come up with ideas on how to further innovate this masterpiece.
A beautiful award ceremony black tie with pure silk lining and stunning leather details.
Well, I didn’t have the opportunity to take a studio photo in the time from completion to delivery, so I took a very quick, low quality phone photo.
here it is.
It’s a grainy image I know of. Thank you very much.
Stop by Karen’s spot, not a photo, and work on something like that for an important night’s event that you might be up to.
But one humble request.
Please come before the event.
Want your favorite designer to endanger his life on the streets of Nairobi for odd hours?
How do you shine when there are no people dedicated to you who seem to work brilliantly for you 24 hours a day?
